The close collaboration of the Initiative for Globus in Europe (IGE) with StratusLab leads back to its first findings. IGE is proud to announce that a number of virtual appliances are publicly available in the StratusLab market place.
“We offer virtual appliances that are instantiated as virtual machines in the cloud”, says Dr. Helmut Heller, IGE’s project director. “This will enable the user to simply instantiate the already prepared appliances in the cloud as virtual machines, connect to them and use Globus components with no need of installing it. The configuration is limited to very few steps and can be easily done.”
The aforementioned operating systems are Ubuntu 10.4 server (x86_64), Fedora 15 (i686), CentOS 6.0 (i686) on which different configurations of Globus exist:
Globus Toolkit (GT) 5.0.4 compiled from sources, with no additional configuration performed.
- GT 5.0.4 compiled from sources with additional configured services (GridFTP, GRAM5, GSI-OpenSSH)
- GT5.0.4 services (GridFTP, GSI-OpenSSH) which are installed and configured with the default settings from the IGE packages.
