The Universidad Complutense de Madrid is the largest and most renowned university in Spain, with over 700 years of history. The Distributed Systems Architecture Research Group, which is part of the Computer Science Faculty, conducts research in advanced distributed computing and virtualization technologies for large-scale infrastructures and resource provisioning platforms, being involved in several research and development initiatives in Grid and Cloud Computing. The DSA Research Group is leading the Globus GridWay Metascheduler project and founded the OpenNebula Virtual Infrastructure Engine.

Within IGE, UCM will provide adaptions and enhancements of Globus components for execution management, especially for the GridWay Metascheduler, and will explore ways to make some Globus components, like GRAM, more cloud-friendly.
